The Lord Jesus taught the necessity of forgiveness and the consequence of unforgiveness. Believers must forgive those who offend them, and the person removed from fellowship due to unrepentant sin (Matthew 18:15-20). However, forgiveness does not mean tolerance of sin, nor should the believer fellowship with the one who has been removed. Forgiveness is trusting God in everything and removing the bitterness and the desire for revenge. A believer must forgive because God forgave and commands it through Christ.
