What This is All About

I started this Substack to serve our church family, GCF Naga, by sharing my sermon manuscripts in a way that’s easy to access, study, and reflect on. These are expository sermons, written to help us engage the Word in context — and to support our growth groups, discipleship groups, and the ministry of our satellite preachers and teachers.

Over time, readers from outside our church began subscribing as well, and I’ve welcomed that with gratitude. My hope is that these resources will encourage all of us, whether we’re leading, teaching, or simply growing to know God’s Word more deeply through faithful exposition, and to live it out more faithfully.

What will you get?

Each week, you’ll receive a sermon manuscript delivered straight to your inbox. The same material is also available here on the website. Every sermon includes a clear exposition of the text, practical applications, a study guide for personal reflection or group discussion, and a piece of poetry to stir the heart. Occasionally, I also share essays on topics like society, philosophy, economics, and leadership — all thoughtfully explored through the lens of Scripture.

Who is Ed Pilapil Jr?

I’m Ed Pilapil Jr.—or as some call me, Dr. Ed, Bro. Ed, Pastor Ed, or simply Kuya Ed. I’m your fellow traveler in the lifelong journey of discovering the depth and beauty of God’s Word. I’m passionate about exploring Scripture in context, unraveling its meaning with clarity, depth, and relevance for today.

As a part-time educator, I teach courses in Philosophy of Business, International Business, and Transformational Leadership. My background includes a doctorate and a master’s degree in Business Administration, as well as a master’s in Christian Leadership. I began my academic path with a degree in Communication Arts, which shaped my love for communication. For more details, visit me on LinkedIn.

Most of the time, I serve our church community through preaching and pastoring. I serve as a consultant for family-owned companies and organizations, helping craft family constitutions and validate strategic plans.

Whether in business, ministry, or everyday life, I believe context matters—and that the gospel, spoken and written, endures in a fleeting world. Join me as we walk through the rich tapestry of Scripture and discover how God’s truth speaks to every part of our lives.

My home church is GCF Naga, where I serve as the senior pastor. We adhere to the 1689 Second London Baptist Confession (with minor modifications). Our church office is located in Naga City, Bicol, Philippines. GCF Naga is a member of the Conservative Baptist Association of the Philippines (CBAP).

There is one indispensable lens; it is the Scripture lens. With this lens, I write prose and poetry to convey and contribute. My favorite topics are leadership, stewardship, and the truth of eternal significance.
